Federal Budget Status

The federal government is currently operating under a continuing resolution (CR) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025. This CR was passed on March 14, 2025, extending federal funding through September 30, 2025, in order to avoid a government shutdown.

President's Budget Request (FY 2026)

The President's Budget Request is a proposal submitted to Congress each year, outlining the administration’s priorities for federal spending, revenue, and borrowing for the upcoming fiscal year. Congress takes this into account when developing budget resolutions in their respective chambers, which they reconcile in conference before building appropriations bills. It is important to note that this is simply a starting point.
