My Texas A&M Story

My Texas A&M story began in 1985, when I began working as a clerk in the Office of Records and Admissions. I enjoyed working in the office immensely and was promoted to several different positions during my career until I was promoted to Assistant to the Registrar, a position I would hold the next 16 years until 2009.

In 1987, while still working full-time, I thought it would be fun to take some Texas A&M classes while working on campus.  After I took all of the “fun” courses, at least what I considered to be “fun”, I realized I needed to take more advanced classes if I was going to seriously pursue my degree.  As a first generation college student from quite a large family, I was dedicated to getting my degree even if it meant taking one class at a time.  In August 2006, all that hard work and persistence paid off when I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, a degree which has been invaluable in enhancing and broadening my career path.

After many wonderful years in the Office of Records and Admissions, I began to feel like it might be the right time to explore a possible change, but I wanted to stay on campus and continue to serve the university in some capacity. It was in March 2009 when I joined Government Relations as the Executive Assistant for the office. I enjoy working in this office immensely and appreciate the opportunity to continue serving this wonderful university and my Alma Mater!
